The Liebster Award

Thank you so much to Mumzilla for nominating me for the Liebster Award! I have been secretly waiting for one of my fellow bloggers to nominate me and let me join in the fun, so I was over the moon to finally be involved! If you have a moment when you’ve finished reading this you should definitely check out Mumzilla’s blog, she is a fab writer, very funny and always guarantees to have you laughing out loud.

The Liebster Award is something that you pass around between other bloggers as a way of getting to know each other a little more in the form of a general question and answers type of thing, who doesn’t love that?!

Now here’s the boring bit, the rules…

  • Thank the person who nominated you and link back to his/her blog.
  • Copy and paste the Liebster Award badge to your post.
  • Answer the ten questions the person who nominated you asked.
  • Nominate 10 new bloggers that you want to share with the world.
  • Then create ten new questions for the bloggers you are nominating
  • Notify the bloggers that you have nominated in any way you see fit!

Mumzilla sent me ten questions to answer, and here we go….

What would you call your alter-ego?

My alter ego would most definitely be a Mombie. This is a new term which I discovered recently through a blogger I adore, here at Crummy Mummy, and it sums me up perfectly. After yet another sleepless night, or another stressful day, I morph into my alter ego and turn into full on Mombie mode! And let me tell you, she is frightening!!

What magical power do you wish that you had?

Ooh this is tough but I think the main one would be the power of invisibility so I could snaffle my kids chocolate in peace without them noticing!! It would also come in really useful on the days when I have to leave the house and I haven’t washed my hair for a week and have crusty Weetabix hand prints on my jeans.

What is the best cheese?

Lancashire Crumbly. I’m not sure if that’s just a local thing or you can get it anywhere, but it’s amazing (especially the one from Chorley market!) and it makes the best cheese on toast ever!!

Who would you most like to snog?

Although my husband will be reading this and if I said anyone else he would be very put out, in all honesty I would have said him anyway. As cheesy as it sounds, I still fancy the pants off him five years later and want to spend the rest of my life smooching only him. But if not, and my life absolutely depended on it, then I suppose I would have to force myself to snog Ryan Gosling, but only if he whispered those magic words to me, “If you’re a bird, I’m a bird.”…*swoon*….

What is your favourite item of clothing and why?

This is the easiest question in the world and every one who knows me would tell you the same – my dressing gown!! Man, I love that dressing gown and it has been known to be surgically attached to me for days on end. The minute I take my coat off I immediately swap it for my dressing gown, normally still over my clothes as an extra layer until the coat goes back on! I grow so close to my dressing gowns that, even when they are old and falling to pieces, I still can’t bear to part with them and for that reason I have about six of them stashed in my wardrobe, like my own giant comfort blankets, from different stages of my life.

Name your top three bloggers

Oh wow this one really is tough!! I admire so many bloggers, infact I admire anyone who blogs full stop, and I love them all in so many different ways. It’s so hard to choose but I must, so the first one would be Shoebox full of memories. This is a guy who tragically lost his twin boys to stillbirth and writes not only about his experience and the devastating effect that it has had on their lives, but he tirelessly campaigns to raise awareness on a subject that, as you know, is so close to my heart.

The second one would be Mackenzie Glanville who I think is completely inspirational. She always motivates me and instils a positive outlook to life in every post. She is a fantastic writer I find myself nodding along and agreeing with every single word that she writes. She’s fab!

The third, and absolutely not the least, is Absolutely Prabulous and if you haven’t checked out this womans blog then you must. I envy her for her writing skills, the way that she can tell a story is just genius, and she is one of the cleverest, and funniest bloggers I have ever come across. So much love for this lady who has been nothing but supportive, #blog goals for sure!!

What needs inventing asap?

A teletransporter. Obviously I would love to be transported to an exotic beach and lie in the sunshine sipping on a Pina Colada of a weekend, but also, and most of all, because some of my best friends live at the opposite ends of the country and I would love to be able to whizz down there and give them a hug when they need it, or share a glass of wine and a girly gossip.

Who do you pretend to hate but secretly love?

I think it’s more of a collective group than a single individual, but I always pretend to hate reality TV stars and really, in secret, I am a Z-list celebrity junkie!! I love reading all about their car crash lives in trashy magazines and pouring over photos of them falling out of clubs with their boobs hanging out. Z-listers are way more entertaining than the A-listers, and reality TV is my guilty pleasure!

What’s that smell?

Well it certainly isn’t me, I showered just last night! As the saying goes, whoever smelt it dealt it!!

What’s the stupidest bit of ‘essential’ baby kit you bought?

Probably our baby monitors. We bought some top of the range, super expensive ones with our first baby, such was the fear that we might not hear him cry during the night. Little did we know that not only would we hear him screaming the house down at three in the morning, but so would half of the street!! Unless you live in a mansion then there’s not a chance in hell that you won’t hear a hungry baby screeching for milk in the night, and having that noise amplified by a baby monitor is probably the last thing you want to hear!!

If you have got this far, I now nominate the following bloggers. If any of you reading haven’t yet been nominated and fancy joining in then please feel free!

My questions to you are –

  1. What was the last lie you told?
  2. If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
  3. Whose blog gives you blog envy?
  4. Have you ever committed a crime?
  5. How would your best friend describe you, in five words?
  6. Tell me your favourite joke?!
  7. If you could go back in time and change one thing, what would it be?
  8. How much of your time each week do you spend on blogging?
  9. Which would you rather give up, coffee or alcohol?
  10. How did you and your other half meet?

Looking forward to reading your answers whenever you have the time! Thanks for reading, and again a huge thank you to Mumzilla for the Liebster love!!

  3. Yes the Mombie thing! Someone just said it on my blog the other day; maybe it was Crummy Mummy, I must check. And shameless plug but have you read my Confessions of a Housewife post? Ryan’s in there 🙂
But let’s get onto the MOST important bit of this post shall we? Tee hee…thank you so much for that amazing eulogy (er I think I just used a word associated with dead people). Such kind words (and flattery will literally get you everywhere with me) that really touched me. Funnily enough I don’t feel like I read your blog enough and I always have you in mind; I could inhale every word so your writing skills are right up there too my dear.
Congrats on the Liebster; I really wanted the superpower question on mine!

    1. I just looked now, the Ryan thing – so true! Plus I actually really like Eva, despite the fact she is ridiculously beautiful, so yes, I will let her have him, it’s only fair.
And you are very welcome, flattery might get you everywhere but I genuinely meant every word, your blog really is one to aspire to. And thank you, that’s one of the reasons I love you, you’re just too kind.
Ooh now I’m curious, what super power would you have? Xx

      1. Hmmmm well being able to just wake up on time would be one. But I’d love to be invisible although i’d then sit in a corner crying about all the things people are saying about me as they don’t know I’m there lol.

  4. Great to get to know more about you. Your fave cheese sounds yum. And Mother is with you on the z-listers – she talks about them extremely disparagingly and then watches reality programmes which makes Father roll his eyes. Well done on your Liebster too x #puddinglove

  5. Oh I wish they had invented a teletransporter – my family live hours away and I would love to be able to just pop and have a brew with my Mum. Really sweet what you said about your other half, its so important in all this child madness that you can still connect with each other. Great post, loved learning more about you 🙂 thanks for linking up #PuddingLove

    1. Haha yes, trash TV is just so easy to watch isn’t it? When I’ve hAd a bad day with the kids and I’m knackered, I don’t have the attention span to watch anything complex, a bit of TOWIE or Geordie shore and I’m happy! Xx
